Daisycon distinguishes different media types. Below we explain what Daisycon means by each media type and when to use it.
Choosing the correct media type is important. Advertisers use media types to understand how you promote campaigns. A clear and accurate media type helps advertisers assess your application correctly and improves transparency within the network.
You can manage your media in your account via Settings | Media. The explanations below will help you choose the media type that best matches your promotional method.
Category: Website
-
Blog
Choose this media type if you run a blog that regularly publishes articles, stories, or updates, usually around a specific topic, interest, or area of expertise. Affiliate links are often included naturally within the content. -
Cashback / loyalty program
Choose this media type if your website rewards users for making a purchase, for example through cashback, savings, points, or other loyalty benefits. If you also promote advertisers through email and link directly from the email to the advertiser, use the media type Email marketing incentive (cashback / loyalty program) for that email activity. -
Closed user groups
Choose this media type if your website or platform is only accessible to registered, approved, or invited users. Examples include members-only environments, gated communities, or other closed platforms where content and promotions are not publicly visible. -
Content site
Choose this media type if your website is mainly focused on informative or editorial content, such as articles, guides, lists, or news overviews. Affiliate links, banners, or product feeds may be used where relevant. If your site does not clearly fit another website media type, content site is often the most suitable choice. -
Daily offers
Choose this media type if your website focuses on daily deals, flash deals, short-term promotions, or auctions. These offers usually change frequently and mainly appeal to visitors looking for temporary deals. Coupon code websites do not fall under this media type and should use Coupon code and promotional sites instead. -
Directory sites and startpages
Choose this media type if your website mainly consists of collections of links, categories, listings, or startpage-style overviews that help users find relevant websites or services. Please note that startpage look-a-likes and similar low-quality variants may not be accepted. -
Free content
Choose this media type if your website focuses on free products, free samples, giveaways, competitions, or similar offers where users participate to receive something for free. -
Coupon code and promotional sites
Choose this media type if your website provides discount codes, special offers, and promotion overviews. In many cases, users first click before the code is shown. Please note that a code of conduct applies to the use of coupon codes, which you can read here. -
Forums & communities
Choose this media type if your website is built around user interaction, such as discussions, questions, answers, or shared interests. Examples include forums, discussion boards, and community-driven platforms. -
Reviews & ratings
Choose this media type if your website focuses on customer experiences, reviews, product tests, rankings, or similar opinion-based content. Reviews and test results must be genuine, transparent, and obtained honestly. -
Comparison / shopping portal
Choose this media type if your website compares prices, features, or offers from different advertisers, usually based on product feeds or comparison tools. If you use the media specifically for shopping ads such as Google Shopping, then use Product Listing Ads (PLA) instead.

Choose this media type if you buy display advertising inventory through display advertising platforms or networks such as Google Display Network, Criteo, or similar solutions. This includes banner campaigns, display ads, retargeting placements, and other visual ad formats on third-party websites or apps. This media type is intended for paid display advertising and should not be confused with affiliate subnetworks. -
Subnetworks
Choose this media type if you operate an affiliate subnetwork or platform that gives a wider group of subpublishers access to advertiser campaigns. This may include central access to campaigns, link generation, product feeds, automation, or link replacement technology. Transparency is essential for this media type.
